Kandivali, also known as Khandolee, is a locality in North Mumbai, the 20th railway station between Churchgate and Borivali, and on the western railway path. Kandivali falls in between Malad and Borivali.
History
Its railway station is one of the oldest and was built in 1907, almost 100 years back. It had many Heritage style buildings which were constructed with Malad Stones somewhere between 1860 and 1930. However, most of these have been demolished, and new highrise buildings have been built.
It is said that during the plagues around 1900, people migrated from Bandra to Kandivali, and ever since, they have continued to stay here.
The Church of Our Lady of Assumption, located off M.G. Road, was constructed in 1630 and was one of the old churches in Mumbai. This was later demolished, and new construction was built for the church.Top 10 Landmarks in Kandivali
